Police to strictly implement rental law in Quetta

Quetta - In view of mounting terror acts in Quetta, the police have started to thoroughly put the Balochistan Restriction of Rented Buildings (Security) Act 2015 into full operation.

The Restriction of Rented Buildings (Security) Act was passed in August 2015 from Balochistan Assembly and was aimed at accumulating data of rented properties and renters in the capital.

However, the law could not be enforced in letter and spirit and the provincial capital’s police filing six cases under the security act apprehended ten renters, houses owners and property dealers in various police stations.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Naseebullah Khan said the registration of 18000 out of 36000 rented houses and building had been finalised and the residual rented properties listing will be completed. He also warned of stringent action against property dealers, house owners and renters in case of failure of registering them with the police.

The SSP said the property dealer, owner and those rented the property can face one year prison in case failing to carry out registration.
