Rao refuses to appear before body probing Naqeeb’s killing

KARACHI - SSP Rao Anwar and his team on Monday declined to appear before a committee probing into extra judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

Anwar and his team were summoned DIG East Sultan Khwaja and Malir Investigations SP Abid Qaimkhani at 10:30am on Monday for further investigation.

“We have summoned SSP Anwar and his team but they are not cooperating with us,” said Qaimkhani.

Talking to the newsmen, he said that if the officers wouldn’t cooperate with the police then they would be arrested.

Earlier, DIG Sultan Khwaja said no evidence has been found of Naqeebullah that supports Naqeeb was a terrorist. He added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has been unable to find criminal record of Naqeeb.

“If Anwar and his team do not trust us, they should appear before any commission or platform as they have a right to prove themselves innocent,” DIG Khwaja said.

He said that Anwar and his team are not available at their houses and their phones are also turned off
