Rawalpindi-Police are bringing Mian Muhammad Ateeq, former Senator of MQM, to Rawalpindi from Lahore where he was held by Qila Gujar Singh police for his involvement in a fraud case, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.
A case number 700/21 was registered against MQM leader Mian Ateeq Ahmed along with eight co-accused with Police Station (PS) Ganjmandi under sections 420/467/468/471 of PPC on complaint of Abbas Zulqarnain, the AC/Sub Registrar Urban-1, he said.
He added a court of law had declared Mian Ateeq Ahmed as proclaimed offender in the case.
According to him, Mian Ateeq Ahmed along with eight accomplices had produced bogus and forged sale deeds of precious property measuring 11 marlas located in Namak Mandi to show them as owner of the property.
However, the Excise and Taxation Office declared the sale seeds as bogus and fake, he said adding that the then sub-registrar lodged a plaintiff against the accused and the police registered a case against them, he said.
The police spokesman said investigators of Ganjmandi police will solve the case on merit.
