LAHORE - The University of Lahore held its 12th convocation 2022 at UOL Defence Road Campus, where 16,829 graduates were awarded various degrees. Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar (Governor Punjab, Patron UOL) was the chief guest at this event while Awais Raoof (Chairman BoG), Prof Dr M Ashraf (Rector UOL), pro-rectors, deans, heads of department, faculty members, visiting academicians, graduating students, their parents, teachers, staff and faculty members of UOL were also present.
A total of 271 outstanding students, who topped in their respective disciplines/batches in the last two years (Feb 2020- December 2021), received gold medals. The governor conferred degrees to 51 postgraduates (PhD), 7,353 graduates and 9,425 undergraduates. These were spread across faculties i.e. Faculty of Allied Health Sciences 2,730, Faculty of Engineering & Technology 2,530, Faculty of Arts and Architecture 195, Faculty of Information Technology 1,802, Faculty of Languages & Literature 1,012, Faculty of Management Sciences 2,277, Faculty of Social Sciences 446, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry 700, Faculty of Sciences 3,342, Faculty of Pharmacy 764 and Faculty of Law 1,030.
During his speech, Governor Punjab congratulated the graduating students on their splendid success and lauded The University of Lahore for providing exceptional knowledge and skills that enable the graduates to lead professionally rewarding life. The chairman BoG expressed gratitude to the guests for presence at the convocation and congratulated the students and their parents for the outstanding performance and wished them a prosperous future ahead. He added that UOL is striving to provide the best academic environment and highly qualified faculty for its students so that they can contribute towards the economic growth of the country.
The rector UOL expressed pleasure to see quite a good number of graduates in varied academic disciplines being produced by the UOL and said that the conferment of PhD degree proves that University is fully aware about the importance of research.
The University of Lahore is the largest private sector University of Pakistan with more than 40,000 students and four campuses. The university was established in 1999 and had since then been offering courses in the fields of Medicine & Dentistry, Engineering, Arts, Sciences and Social Sciences. With a strong emphasis on balanced progress and focus on human capital, the university has grown to 11 faculties and 43 departments and five research centres. The University of Lahore has produced 56,359 graduates till date in various disciplines. It lays special emphasis on research programs. Consequently, a total of 131 PhD scholars have been produced so far by the University.
