The American National Science Foundation has given the Travel Award to Munaza Fatima, a geography lecturer of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, over her research paper presented in the 15th International Geography Symposium held at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA from July, 7 to July 12, 2013.
In the symposium, 250 research scholars from all over the world participated while 15 best research papers from the South part of the world were honoured with the Travel Award on the quality of their research work. Forty five sessions were held during this symposium which was the best kind of programme in the field of the upcoming section of the Medical Geography in which the research papers about the Climatic changes and Health, CIG and Health, Viral diseases, Water born diseases, AIDS/HIV, Environment and Health, Diet System, and Health system were presented.
IMGS is one of the active parts of the Association of American Geographers and one of the old associations of the Geographic world. It was established in 1904. The topic of Miss Munaza Fatima’s research paper was ‘the Harmful Facts about the Environmental Health in Bahawalpur district’. Her research paper was highly appreciated by the participants and organisers while the chairman of the conference assured complete cooperation to Munaza Fatima for future research work on the behalf of the Association of American Geographers. Munaza remarked the experience quite encouraging and honour for herself and the university as being a new in the field, this appreciation and achievement would surely help her to further improve her skills and work.
