CCPO Lahore inspects front desk; scrutinises records at Mozang police station

LAHORE - Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar paid a surprise visit to Mozang Police Station here on Tuesday.

The Mozang station house officer (SHO) and other police officers were present on the occasion. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar inspected front desk, lockup, barrack and other related sections of the police station. He also checked the attendance of the staff and record of the reporting room along with cleanliness at the police station. During the visit, he directed the police officials and officers to improve their performance. The CCPO Lahore checked the status of applications received at front desk and expressed his displeasure over the pending applications. He also disliked the unsatisfactory conditions of cleanliness at the police station.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar reprimanded the SHO over poor performance and ordered the officials concerned to issue him warning. “Police stations are the face of the department, and it should be our top priority to provide justice to the citizens,” said Lahore police chief. “Only by changing our behaviour can we improve the image of police among citizens.”

The CCPO Lahore further directed the officers concerned to be vigilant and alert to maintain law and order in the city. “CCTV cameras installed in different sections of police stations should be functional and their recording should be saved.” He further directed the officers to take effective measures to stop street crime, drug peddling and gambling.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that torture of under trial prisoners in lockups, and prisoners’ escape from police stations, would not be tolerated at all. He directed police officers to speed up the crackdown on gamblers and narcotics sellers. The CCPO also directed the officers to behave politely with the citizens, improve service delivery with skills, development and professionalism for solving grievances of humanity.

According to the spokesperson of Lahore Police, as many as 4,857 drug-peddlers were arrested, and 4,747 FIRs were registered against them, during the last five-and-a-half-month of the current year.
