KARACHI - Trust for Vaccines & Immunization (TVI) formally launched its Typhoid Vaccination Campaign for schools and madrasahs of Jamshed Town, Karachi. The inauguration ceremony was held at JS Academy for Deaf. Through this campaign, school and madrasah-going children will be vaccinated against typhoid fever which is a common disease in Pakistan, says a press release. The vaccination campaign will be conducted for the duration of two months from March 21, 2011 till May 21, 2011. TVI is conducting this programme in collaboration with City District Government Karachi Jamshed Town, Ministry of Health Govt of Sindh, EPI Sindh, Ministry of Education Govt of Sindh and International Vaccine Institute, South Korea. In the first phase of the programme, TVI had vaccinated around 40,000 children of Gulshan Town from October 2010 to December 2010.TVI has now launched the second phase of typhoid vaccination programme in Jamshed Town. Commenting on the launch of TVIs Typhoid Vaccination Campaign, Professor Abdul Gaffar Billoo, Chairman of TVI said, TVI strongly believes that a healthy future of the country is dependent on healthy children. With this vision in mind, TVI aims for a healthy, strong and more productive Pakistani society.
