SIALKOT - Two people including a soldier of the Punjab Rangers embraced martyrdom and four others sustained injuries when Indian forces shelled Sialkot border villages along the Working Boundary on Tuesday.

The sectors which came under fire by Indian BSF were Charwah, Harpal, Sucheetgarh, Chaprar, Bajra Garhi and Zafarwal-Shakagarh along the 193 Km-long Sialkot Working Boundary.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, Punjab Rangers jawan Lance Naik Muhammad Shahid was martyred when some mortar shells fired by Indian BSF hit the Phagwal Post in Zafarwal-Shakargarh sector. An old man Malik Muhammad Aslam (70) was martyred by Indian firing in village Jand-Sarhiyaal of Charwah sector.

Malik was at his house when some mortar shells fired by Indian BSF hit his house killing him on the spot.

Four people Nasir (village Mallaaaney in Charwah sector), Hidayat (village Bara Bhai Masrur), Noor Hussain (village Chamaana Khurd) and Bashir Ahmed (village Abiyaal Dogar) sustained injuries when mortar shells hit their houses.

Wounded Nasir was shifted to Sialkot Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and the rest of the injured were shifted to Shakargarh THQ Hospital in critical condition. Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Dr Farrukh Naveed and Narowal Deputy Commissioner Ali Anaan Qamar on Tuesday reviewed the relief activities made by the local district administration for help of the shelling-affected people.

The Indian shelling continued for the whole night on Monday. However it was intermittent on Tuesday.

According to senior officials of the Punjab Rangers, the Indian forces targeted civilian population. The Punjab Rangers responded instantly silencing the Indian guns.

Dozens of houses were badly damaged in Charwah, Harpal, Sucheetgarh, Chaprar, Bajra Garhi and Zafarwal-Shakagarh sectors. Majority of the people in these shelling-hit Sialkot border villages spent their sleepless night in the fields to keep them safe. Dozens of cattle were also killed and injured during the unprovoked mortar shelling by BSF.

The shelling-hit people moved to safer places in Sialkot border villages Wainse, Daallowali, Kundanpur, Thathi, Meendarwal and surrounding villages (Sucheetgarh sector), Joiyaan, Anula, Harpal, Salaankey, Wahga, Khanor, Sangiyaal, Umeraanwali (Harpal sector), Jhumat, Jarwal, Charwah, Merajkey, Akhnur, Dhamala , Haakimwala, Tulsipur, Lasso Chak, Bharthaal, Rangpur, Tandiyaal, Thakariyaal, Sangiyaal, Beeni Sulehriyaan, Khadraal, Sakroori, Behlaadpur, Sangiyaal, Haarnaawali and surrounding villages (Charwah sector), Punwal, Punwal Chak, Punwal Khurd, Nandpur, Rangpur Jattan, Salehpur, Malaaney, Thathi, Jhumiyaan and nearby villages(Chaprar sector), Joiyaan, Anula, Harpal, Salaankey, Wahga, Khanor, Sangiyaal, Umeraanwali (Harpalsector), Wainse Ooncha, Wainse Neewaan, Kundanpur, Thathi, Meendarwal, Kajliyaal, Kaseerey, Ghug, Nandpur, Dhool, Malaaney, Khaaney Chak and surrounding villages (Sucheetgarh sector), Sukho Chak, Abiyaal Dogar, Tughalpur, Agor, Sukmaal, Bhopalpur, Thakurpur, Nangal, Gujgaal, Timmer Chak, Karol, Sukmaal, Chak Nahra and Bhoorey Chak (Zafarwal-Shakargarh).
