PTCL to set up incubation centre, IT park in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Wednesday inked an agreement with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board for provision of information and communication technology services, establishment of incubation centre and software technology park in Peshawar.

The incubation centre and the software technology park (STP) will have fully-managed IT and telecom services including high speed internet, international connectivity, voice, and WiFi solution for the young start-up entrepreneurs and IT companies. The PTCL will be extending cloud services and surveillance solutions to companies in the incubation centre and in the STP. The PTCL will also provide mentorship to tech start-ups enrolled in the incubation centre, the statement added.

Adil Rashid, chief digital services officer at the PTCL, said, “We are delighted to extend our partnership with the KP government in the field of IT and telecom. We are honoured that KP IT Board has selected PTCL as a partner for establishing incubation centres and STPs in the province. The initiatives taken by the KP IT ministry for growth of the ICT sector will help transform key sectors as health and education. The PTCL remains committed to improving the lifestyle and empowering people through its futuristic and diversified products and digital services.”

KP IT and Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai said, “KP government from its start had a strong vision of serving the citizens by providing innovative services to the masses and has already initiated many projects of public welfare.

The Durshal Project and STPs will not only enable IT and tech start-ups to grow their businesses, but will also provide job opportunities for fresh graduates in the field of IT and business management.”

The facility will provide cost-effective office solution equipped with latest ICT services under one roof. The establishment of incubation centre will go a long way in the growth of IT business in KP province and will enable young and creative tech start-ups to grow their businesses and contribute to country’s GDP, he added.

The agreement was signed by the PTCL Digital Services General Manager Suleman Awan and by KP IT Board Director Administration Imran Khan.
