LAHORE - Muzamil Murtaza won the singles title and M Abid/Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Talha Waheed/Ashar Ali Khan clinched the men’s doubles and Seniors 40 plus doubles titles in the Tennis Concepts Open National Tennis Championship 2021.
On Friday at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Muzamil Murtaza played well against M Shoaib in the men’s singles final and outlasted him 6-2, 7-5. Muzamil started well against Shoaib and won the first set comfortably 6-2. But he had to face tough resistance from his opponent in the second set before winning it 7-5, thus clinched the title.
The men’s doubles title was claimed by spirited duo of Muhammad Abid and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, who defeated the pair of Muzamil Murtaza and Mudassar Murtaza 6-1, 7-6. Both the pairs played superb tennis but in the end, Abid/Huzaifa prevailed and won the title. The seniors 40 plus doubles title was lifted by No 1 player Talha Waheed (Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd) and partner Ashar Ali Khan, who outsmarted spirited pair of Arif Feroze and Fayyaz Khan 6-1, 6-1. Col (R) Faisal and PLTA Secretary Rashid Malik graced the concluding ceremony as chief guests and distributed prizes among the winners.
