Man kills 2 women over land dispute

RAWALPINDI - Two women were killed when a man allegedly opened indiscriminate firing on them over a land dispute in Datta Bhatt area of Jatli, informed police sources on Wednesday.
Police sources said Shehla Bibi (55) and Zahra Bibi (58) were killed when a man namely Dilawar, who is stated to be their nephew, allegedly opened fire on them over a land dispute.
 A heavy contingent of police rushed to the area after the shooting incident and shifted the bodies with the help of Rescue 1122 to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Gujar Khan for postmortem. Reportedly, the killer managed to flee from the scene after committing the crime, they said. Similarly, the investigators of Homicide Investigation Unit along with forensic experts also visited the crime scene and collected evidence. “The investigators have collected dead bullet cases and other evidence besides recording statements of the eyewitnesses as part of their investigation,” police sources mentioned.
The police have launched a search for the killer in the village but he could not be arrested, said a police officer.
The occurrence of the incident has sent shock waves in the village.
“Both women suffered bullet injuries in the head and abdomen that led to their instant death,” said a rescuer of Rescue 1122, who shifted the bodies to hospital.
Meanwhile, the officials of Police Station Jatli registered a murder case against the killer and began investigation.
“We will arrest the killer soon as he committed a heinous crime by shooting two women dead,” said City Police Officer Muhammad Ahsan Younas in a statement. He said he has directed the Superintendent of Police Saddar Division to supervise the investigation of the case himself and make all out efforts to catch the fleeing killer.
Later, the doctors of THQ Hospital Gujar Khan after conducting the postmortem of the deceased had handed over the bodies to the heirs for burial.
