Alumnus donates 121 kanals to Peshawar college

PESHAWAR  - A former student of the historic Islamia College Peshawar has donated 121 kanals of land to his alma mater as a gesture of love and affection and as a reflection of his commitment to the cause of education.
Professor Dr Nazeer Khan, a senior alumnus registered in the academic session 1943-44 at the Islamia College Peshawar, announced the generous donation in a meeting held at the ICP campus.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Qibla Ayaz, Registrar Prof Dr Sareer Badshah and other senior teachers and officers attended the meeting. Dr Muhammad Zafar Afridi, Medical Superintendent Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, assisted the aged Professor Dr Nazeer.
Prof Qibla Ayaz paid rich tributes to Prof Nazeer for his kindness, generosity and commitment to education. He said that the college would establish one of its branches for higher education on the donated land in Galay, district Swabi.
He announced to set up a committee comprising Deputy Registrar Establishment Daud Zahid and In-Charge Legal Cell Faisal Shahzad to draw up proposals for the legal takeover of the land.
The VC also said that soon a briefing would be arranged for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and MPA Shahram Khan Tarakai, who are the public representatives from the area, to seek their input and assistance for the most appropriate educational use of the 121 kanals. Islamia College Peshawar is a great seat of learning in the country.
