KARACHI - Model Custom Collectorate of Preventive, Karachi seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods during its recently-launched grand operation against smuggling of goods like plastic dana (Polyethelene), smuggled vehicles and spare parts, here on Thursday.
The current management of the MCC Preventive has put special emphasis on anti-smuggling activities as the menace of smuggling is adversely affecting the local industry and depriving national exchequer from huge amount of duty/taxes.
In its recent efforts to minimise the volume of smuggling, it has succeeded in making remarkable seizures of smuggled goods like vehicles, CNG cylinders, plastic dana (Polyethelene), motorcycle spare parts, mobile phones, gutka, POL products, cigarettes, refrigeration tubes made of copper, air conditioners, wall papers, tyres, cloth etc.
The amount of duty/taxes involved in all these seizures runs into millions of rupees which is a major contribution towards revenue collection and protection of local industry and legal importers. The efforts of anti-smuggling organisations to curb the smuggling are in progress and the recent campaign is being carried out successfully.
