LAHORE - Pakistan boys and girls teams for participation in the Asia 12&U Team Competitions, Regional Qualifying Event - South Asia 2021 have been finalised, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) spokesman said on Monday. The teams have been finalized after trials that were held at the PTF Complex Islamabad from August 18 to 21. As many as 10 boys and three girls took part in the trials. “Some highly engaging tennis was seen from the youngsters and, overall, the teams are expected to provide good competition to other participants in the event,” he said and added: “The players to make it to the boys’ team include Abubakar Talha (Wapda), Hamza Roman (SNGPL) and USA-based Mikaeel Shahbaz Ali Baig, who was given a wildcard. “The girls’ outfit consists of Haniya Minhas (Army), who was exempted from the trials due to her PTF/ATF rankings, and her exceptional performance in the recent national and ATF events, Zunaisha Noor and Lalarukh Sajid. The nations invited by the ITF for the event include Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka. ITF Certified Level II coaches Nouman ul Haq and Sara Mansoor will be the non-playing captains of the boys’ and girls’ teams, respectively. The event will be held from Sep 13 to 18 at PTF Complex.”
