Wapda beat Army to clinch National Baseball title

LAHORE - Wapda used all its power in his armory to beat Army to clinch the 18th National Baseball Championship here at the Iqbal Park ground. Wapda got four runs to win the match while Army did not get any score all due to fine pitching from Wapda's Hafiz Usman. Shaukat Javed, president Pakistan Baseball Federation, was the chief guest of the final and gave away the prizes to the winners and other participants. Khawar Shah, secretary PBF was also present on the occasion. On the day two matches were played and before the final there was a match for third place which ended in favour of Police. Wapda got single run in the opening innings and after scoreless remaining innings, it added three scores in the ninth innings to win the match by 4-0 difference. Sajid Rashif opened the score while Zaheer Bashir, Basit Murtaza and Adnan Butt added the three scores in the ninth innings. In the match of the tournament, Police beat NWFP 13-3 with score coming from Sameer, Riaz, Usman, Khurrum, usaddaq Haneef, Usman Shaukat and Sheraz Butt while NWFP made runs through Abdur Rehman, Mohammad Irfan and Waleed.
