Punjab women win boxing titles

LAHORE - Punjab female boxers won the 1st National Women Boxing Championship here at the Wapda Sports Complex Tuesday. Punjab boxers scooped two gold medals out of three in the 57-60kgs and 69-75kgs weight categories, while they won silver in the women fly 48-51kg fight, where Sindh denied them of winning one gold. In women's light 57-60kg, Rukhsana Perveen of Punjab won gold, Memona Bibi of Balochistan silver while Ammara of AJK and Iqra of Islamabad bronze medals. The women's middle 69-75kg gold was won by Arzoo Ashraf of Punjab, KP’s Sofia silver and Balochistan’s Sadiqa bronze. In women's fly 48-51kg, Razia Bano of Sindh grabbed gold, Khoushleem Bano of Punjab silver and Islamabad’s Tayyaba Bano and KP’s Safeena bronze. Chief guest Aamir Jan handed medals to the winners.
