Attock-The School Management Committee (SMC) Deaf and Defective Hearing Elementary School Attock has demanded upgradation of the school to secondary level and provision of teaching staff as per the sanctioned posts.
The SMC in its meeting which was presided over by Chairman Hafiz Abdul Hameed and attended by Principal Najma Shaheen, Syed Raza Haidar Naqvi and others said that the school was established in 1990 and during these three decades, a large number of deaf and dumb children passed from this school despite of shortage of teaching staff and other facilities.
The Chairman said that to get this school upgraded to secondary level all forums were approached at district, division and provincial level but to no avail.
The Chairman said that since 2011, the school administration has been teaching the students of secondary level by hiring private teachers for them and students always got distinctions in board exams. Chairman said the school is also facing shortage of teaching staff and at present only four teachers are posted against the sanctioned seats of 10 teachers for more than 150 students. The Chairman demanded that this school be upgraded to secondary level as this is the only school established for deaf and dumb children in the district.
