LHC restrains illegal cutting of trees, mountains in Murree

Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court restrains all illegal cutting of trees and mountains in Kotli Sattian, Kahuta and Murree.

According to the details, Justice Jawad Hassan issued the order under Writ of Prohibition while hearing a petition filed by Advocate Sardar Taimoor Aslam Khan under Article 199 of the Constitution.

Further, the court has directed Additional Secretaries of the Government of Punjab Environmental Protection Department, Ministry of Climate Change and DG EPA to appear on the next date of hearing on January 31.

In addition, the court has ordered all concerned authorities to submit a report regarding the steps taken by them for the purposes of preservation and conservation of mountain ecosystem as well as whether any authority has been established specifically for this purpose.
