TANDO MUHAMAMD KHAN - Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has again dismissed any possibility of a patch up with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) saying the party is equally responsible for the crises faced by the country.
Speaking to media at village Sheehn Nizamani here on Saturday, Imran Khan said Nawaz-League was also responsible for the crises faced by the country as it remained a part of the federal government for most of the time.
He said free, fair and transparent elections under an independent caretaker government were the only solution to all the problems the country was facing. Imran was of the view that transparent elections were not possible with Zardari sitting in the Presidency.
When asked whether he saw election in March, Imran Khan said a lot of things were to happen before March. However he didn’t provide any specific details about his claim. The PTI chief only hinted that something might happen in connection with Memogate issue.
He said PPP-led coalition government had failed to deliver.
The PTI chief said that the whole nation, especially the youth of the PTI, was behind Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and would defy any conspiracy against him.
Flaying the president, he said the scandal was an attempt by Zardari to defame the chief justice and divert attention of the people from his corruption. Zardari had tried to defame the chief justice by using business tycoon and owner of Bahria Town, Malik Riaz, as a puppet, but this conspiracy would not be allowed to succeed, Khan said.
He said the president and the chief executive of Bahria Town were close allies and they had joined hands against the judiciary, fearing action against their corruption.
Commenting on newly-elected prime minister, Khan said: “Rental Raja was involved in the rental power corruption case. He will not write a letter to Swiss authorities as well. Anyone who is chosen for the post….will be a servant of Zardari,” he added. Imran said President Zardari had inducted Raja Pervez Ashraf as prime minister only to protect his corruption.
He criticised the rulers, saying the wrongdoings of the top functionaries of the government had been exposed and now the people of Pakistan knew that they were not serious to address their issues.
Khan alleged that the large fleet of the government’s ministers was engaged in filling their pockets and had been ignoring the sufferings and problems of the common man for five years.
“This government cannot serve to the masses and has insulted the mandate of the nation. However, I assure you that the PTI, after coming to power, will address the issues of the people on priority basis,” he said.
The PTI chairman, while commenting on the prevailing power crisis, said that long hours loadshedding had inflicted on the country irreparable loss and pushed it into a critical situation which needed special and sincere attention.
The PTI chief said that he would address a public meeting on June 27 in Faisalabad against persistent long duration power cuts and price hike.
He said Husain Haqqani had sought US support against Pakistan Army and nuclear weapons on behalf of President Zardari.
He said the allegations against ex-envoy had proved during a probe by a high power judicial commission.
The PTI chief condemned firing on a rally of Awami Tehrik in Karachi, and said political parties were responsible for deteriorating law and order situation in Lyari.
Senior party leaders Nadir Leghari, Hassan Pathan and Iqbal Nizamani, were also present on the occasion.
