KARACHI - Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, on behalf of President of Pakistan, has given away civil awards to as many as twenty-four personalities of the province on the occasion of Pakistan Day for their outstanding services in their respective fields of work. The awards were presented at an impressive ceremony held at Darbar Hall of Governor House here Monday. The ceremony was attended, among others, by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Senior Minister Pir Mazhar ul Haq, Law Minister Mohammed Ayaz Soomro, representatives of three services, senior officials, notables and families of award recipients. Out of 24 recipients, seven received Sitara-e-Imtiaz, 11 President's Award for Pride of Performance and six Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman read out the citations for each of the award recipients. The recipients of Sitara-e-Imtiaz included Shafi Mohammed Shah (Acting) (received posthumous by his wife Batool Shafi), Shaharyar Arshad (sailing), S. Khalid Tawab (Public Services), Abdul Haseeb Khan (Public Services), S.M. Naseer (Public Services), Aftab Ahmed Lodhi (Public Services) and Sister Merry Emili FC. Pride of Performance Award was presented to Prof Dr Mohammed Iqbal Bhangar (Chemistry) (received by his son Abdul Latif Bhangar), Behroz Sabzwari (Acting), Ubaidullah Baig (Comparing), Khalifa Mohammed Irshad Baig (wood work), Sahib Dino Mallah (Khes making), Mohtarma Nasim Sultan (Embroidery), Ghaus Bux Brohi (Alghoza Nawaz), Dr Mohammed Aslam Farrukhi (Literature), Ahmed Shah (Ustad Bukhari) (Poetry), Mohammed Faizan (Mountaineering) and Rohina Maliik (Calligraphy). Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was received by Jamil Memon, Dairy Farming, Humera Channa (Singing), Asad Mohammed Khan (Literature), Anwar Pirzao (Late) (Literature), Dr Saher Imdad Hussain (Literature) and Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig (Public Services).
