Ill-fated jobless

Last April, vacancies in Administration, Engineering and Accounts Cadre (BPS-17) were advertised by the Local Council Board Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in many leading newspapers. Screening test, for the said positions, was conducted by NTS and the result declared within a week. NTS charged Rs.500, per application for a single post, as the test processing fee. Thousands of candidates applied for the said positions and travelled from far and wide to sit for the test. The poor unemployed candidates had to spend a lot of money for the process, with the hope that the positions would be filled soon.
However, even after one year, no interviews have been conducted for the said positions. The matter was brought to the notice of Senior Minister for Local Government KPK Mr. Inayatullah Khan, who assured that the recruitment process would be accelerated and all formalities, to fill the vacant positions, would be completed, however he could not fulfill his promise. It has been learnt that the Local Council Board has cancelled the said positions, without giving any reason. In a poor country, with such high rate of unemployment, such antics played by the government do not bode well.
Why were so many poor people made to take the test, if there were going to be no positions? The government needs to reimburse all the candidates. Now once again, Local Council Board has advertised some vacancies, in Local Council Board (BPS-11) and the screening test would be conducted by NTS. Large number of candidates would apply for the said post, wasting their money, in the form of test processing fee and traveling expenditures. However, if the Local Council Board is to cancel these vacancies, at a later stage, or do not conduct the interviews, why do they bothering the unemployed people and raise their hopes?
It is requested that the candidates should be updates on the recruitment status of the last advertised positions (BPS-17) of April, 2014 and interviews conducted for those so that the unemployed youth may have confidence in transparency in the recruitment process. Apart from that the selection criteria should also be mentioned. It is hoped that Senior Minister, Local Government and Rural Development Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Inayatullah would take action on why interviews have not been conducted till now, despite a year’s time has passed for the BPS-17 Vacancies.
