LAHORE - Todays match proved that Old is Gold. First Kumar Sangakkara played a beautiful knock of 78 runs to lead Sri Lanka post 218 runs in the allotted after early shock and secondly Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq played vital innings to lead team to victory. Though Pakistan win the match but at one stage Sri Lankan put more pressure after getting two early quick wickets of Younus and Shoaib Malik. Sri Lankans did not give up the match but they made Pakistan struggle and gave tough time to Pakistan. At one stage, Sri Lankan bowler Mendis got couple of wickets on successive balls and was on hat-trick but Umar Akmal not only denied him but it was his knock that took Pakistan home. Shoaib looked short of match practice. Misbah played a captains knock before he fell to Mendis off his personal score of 66. Umar played innings with dedication and took his team home. Earlier, Pakistan bowlers dominated the first powerplay of ten overs by taking three crucial wickets with 35 runs on the board. Sri Lanka completed their 100 runs in the 23rd over for the loss of four wickets. Sangakkara was in peak form during the series and scored a lot runs including century and half centuries. The master bastman frustrated Pakistan bowling before falling prey to Hafeez. Sangakkara with Matthews put on crucial 119 runs for the fifth wicket. Matthews after making 61 was bowled by Saeed Ajmal. The victory also ensured Pakistan an improvement in ICC ODI rankings Pakistan Cricket Board chief proved lucky enough that the two teams are delivering the goods for Pakistan.
