Turbat survivor contents himself with vending

SIALKOT - Sixteen-year-old Haider Ali, the only survivor of Turbat carnage, is still in a shock after losing his two friends in the tragedy.
From village Jethikey, Sambrial tehsil, three friends Haider Ali, Abu Bakar and Majid had gone to Quetta after paying huge money to human traffickers and agents for going Greece, Turkey via Iran with the high dreams abroad early November 2017.
Abu Bakar and Majid were killed by unknown gunmen near Turbat along with the other 15 persons. Their dead bodies reached and were buried in their native graveyard in village Jethikey-Sambrial , Sialkot district a week ago. Haider was the only survivor of the this tragedy. He reached home safely a few days ago losing his two friends. However, he has finally announced to adopt his family profession to earn a living. He said that he had finally decided to be a labourer or a vegetable seller like his father to feed his family. He said that he had buried his dreams of lucid future abroad.
“Allah has saved me in Turbat brutal killing and given me the second life due to which I have decided to live my life here along with my family instead of going abroad illegally,” he added. He said that though he was much shocked after the brutal killing of his two close friends Abu Bakar and Majid , but he would do now what his father does to feed his family.
Haider Ali narrated, “I have decided to share the financial load and responsibilities of my father by adopting my father’s professional line. Now, I will stay here along with my family instead of going abroad. Though I will earn less while labouring here but I will keep my family happy by providing them maximum happiness.”
He said, “My parents’ prayers have brought me back home after the blessings of Allah Almighty. Now, I have decided to serve my family here with the high hopes of early coming of the good days and bright future of my family.”
His father Aslam (62), a vegetables vendor by profession, said “We are keeping our hopes of bright future alive.” He said that no one had ever wanted to see their beloved ones dead. Thus, we welcome the decision of our beloved son to stay here in his motherland instead of going abroad. However, we will continue our struggle for the bright future of our poor family.”
Gepco nicks 31 consumers
pilfering power
Special surveillance teams of Gepco nicked as many as 31 consumers, pilfering electricity during a crackdown in Gujranwala Region’s all six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
According to senior Gepco officials, these power pilferers were stealing electricity direct from the main electric lines or through tampering their electricity meters. The Gepco has also issued Rs1 million detection bills to the pilferers besides applications to their police stations concerned for registration of cases against them.
JOURNALISTS VISIT LPC
A delegation of the Chawinda-based journalists, led by Chairman Chawinda Press Club Khurram Shehzad, visited Lahore Press Club (LPC).
The LPC management accorded warm welcome to the delegation. Later, the Chawinda-Sialkot based journalists discussed in details matters of mutual interest with LPC office bearers. They also stressed the need for bringing the regional areas’ journalists to the mainstream.
