Nawaz, Maryam given three-day exemption from appearing before court

The Accountability Court (AC) has given a three-day exemption to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz from appearance before the court.

A two-member bench of the accountability court heard the case on Monday. Earlier, the counsels of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam submitted an application, seeking exemption for five days.

In the application, the counsels said that the former prime minister and his daughter are in grief due to the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. The counsels took stance in the plea that the former minister and his daughter need some time for adjustment after their release from jail.

Nawaz Sharif counsel’s Khawaj Haris further said that Nawaz and his daughter are in serious pain due to the death of their loved one, seeking their exemption for five days.

He said that there would be no hurdle in the trials because they will be present in the court. NAB prosecutor said that the law allows an exemption in an extraordinary situation. The court gave three-day exemption to both Nawaz and Maryam.
