Police seal drug factory in Peshawar, 5 held

Peshawar   -  Police on Saturday arrested five persons after recovering a drug factory in Qazi Kelay area that falls in the precincts of Faqeerabad Police Station in the provincial capital.

Superintendent of Police (SP) City Syed Attiq Shah told journalists that drugs from the factory were being supplied to various areas of the country.

He said that a heavy contingent of police raided the area following a tip-off and sealed the drug factory. The cops also recovered 2kg ice drug, 31kg heroin and 2kg hashish from the venue. 

The machinery and chemicals were also seized from the factory, which had been set up in a rented building. Two motorcars and two motorcycles were also seized from the premises. Three of the arrestees were said to be Afghan nationals.

Meanwhile, a meeting chaired by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahsan Abbas vowed to ensure implementation of the COVID-19 SOPs in view of the rising number of cases.

The meeting at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines was also attended by Chief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Marwat, Deputy Commissioner Khalid Mehmood and others. The meeting reviewed measures taken by the Peshawar Police and district administration regarding coronavirus SOPs.

Instructions were also issued to the police officers and district administration to ensure more effective lockdown and use of facemasks in public.
