BAHAWALPUR - A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Bahawalpur Commissioner Captain Muhammad Zafar Iqbal to review the current situation of corona. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Irfan Ali Kathia, Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan, Dr. Khurram Shehzad, Deputy Commissioner Bahawal Nagar, Shafqatullah and other officials of the Health Department were also present. Addressing the meeting, Bahawalpur Commissioner said that in the current situation, it was very important to be very careful, people should maintain social distance and use masks. He further said that corona precautions formulated by the government would be implemented.
The meeting was told that a total of 9414 tests were conducted in the division during the last 7 days, of which 1034 resulted positive. The percentage remained 10.98 per cent. In Bahawalpur district, 551 tests were positive out of 4295, in Bahawalnagar district 115 tests came positive out of 1387 and 368 tests came positive in Rahim Yar Khan district out of 3732. Commissioner directed to ensure strict implementation of coronavirus SOPs. He said that maintaining of social distancing and wearing of masks at public places must be ensured and no negligence can be tolerated in this regard.

positive COVID-19 cases
Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Bahawalpur, Dr. Hamid Khan has said that Bahawalpur had 18 percent positive cases of COVID-19 as saying all available facilities were being provided to the patients. Talking to journalists here, Dr. Hamid contradicted news aired by a private TV channel which claimed that Bahawalpur had 38 percent positive COVID-19 Crona cases. “There is no truth in the news of 38 percent positive cases of COVID-19 in Bahawalpur,” he said, adding that fact was that our region had 18 percent positive cases of COVID-19. He said that patients hailing from Lodhran and Khanewal districts which were lying within jurisdiction of Multan division were also being brought to Civil Hospital Bahawalpur for treatment of COVID-19 Corona disease. He said that 220 beds of Civil Hospital were attached with central oxygen system, adding that but number of patients being brought to Civil Hospital from Bahawalpur and other districts were rising.
