LHC demands land for judicial colony

LAHORE The Lahore High Court has demanded of the Punjab Law Department to provide 1,263 canals of land for residential colony of LHC judges, lower courts judges and other employees of the courts. The LHC demanded that the plots might be given to the judges and other employees of the courts at Raiwind Road, Ferozpur Road or Multan Road, on which the law department asked the Punjab chief secretary to take steps for the allotment of plots to the judges and other employees. It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab government had already refused to provide the land to the courts taking plea that the Punjab government was not authorised to provide such land to any department legally. The chief secretary had also sought the opinion from quarters concerned against the application already submitted in this regard whereas LHC had proposed the aforementioned sites for judicial colony. He demanded the details on a note dispatched by law department that his office should be informed that how many officers and other employees were in need of plots along with their proposed sites. On which the CS had been told by authority concerned that about 1,448 judges and court employees should be provided with 1,263 canals of land.
