50 stolen phones recovered, 169 POs arrested in Peshawar

Peshawar - Peshawar police recovered 50 stolen mobile phones while busting two gangs and arresting 169 proclaimed offenders during the first two months of the year 2022, officials said.

Talking to journalists, SSP Operations Haroon Rasheed said that 420 search operations were conducted in two months, during which 169 men were arrested by the police in various cases. 28 other accused and 143 illegally staying Afghans were also arrested.

He said more than 8kg ice drug, 9kg heroin, 96kg opium and 184kg charas were also seized during the two months.

Meanwhile, SP City Attique Shah told a news conference that cops from Gulbahar and Shaheed Gulfat Hussain police stations had recovered 50 snatched and stolen mobile phones and also arrested eight members of two gangs of thieves.

Attique Shah said that the gangsters confessed snatching of phones from citizens, changing their IMEIs and later selling the gadgets in nearby Afghanistan. He said that a rickshaw and weapons used in the crimes were also recovered from the arrestees.

31 drivers promoted: A ceremony was held at Police Lines here on Thursday wherein 61 drivers were promoted to the next grade.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Haroon Rasheed and SSP Investigation Kaukab Farooq affixed badges to the police drivers promoted at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, SSP Haroon Rasheed said that the drivers had been promoted in the light of directives by IGP Moazzam Jah Ansari. He congratulated the promoted cops and said that the rest of the promotion cases were also being considered by a special departmental committee as per merit.

He asked the promoted cops to perform their responsibilities appropriately.
