Human resource in police

The police in Pakistan have been facing a predicament, where they have been assigned the job to police a large population, with a meager number of personnel. For example in Karachi there are only estimated 29,000 police personnel for a population of 15 million. It is deplorable condition, where understandably with such a token force available, situation does get out of control. Even the quality of human resource allocated and available to police is not satisfactory, while no effort is made to improve their potential. The recruiting process is also marred with political hiring and nepotism. These issues will have to be addressed, by the higher authorities, to curtail the deteriorating law and order situation.
