'Virsa' unprecedented Punjabi film

LAHORE - The first international Punjabi film, Virsa will be released around the world on May 7 with cast and crew from Pakistan, India and Australia. Renowned Pakistani singer Jawwad Ahmad announced this, while addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Wednesday. He said that Virsa was short extensively in Australia, adding that bringing together the best of the talent from these three countries to give the viewers of Punjabi films an international cinematic experience like never before. He said Virsa was an attempt for the revival of Pakistani Cinema with the idea that revival of cinema could be brought about through collaborative effort into meaningful cinema. Jawwad further said the music of the film was outstanding with tracks being sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Richa Sharma, Amna Khan, Farah, Fuad Ahmed, Kirshna and Sahir Ali Bagga and by me. He said the film was produced and released by Dr Amanullah Khan, Jawwad Ahmed from Pakistan and Vikram Khakhar from India. He said Virsa dealt with the expatriate Punjabi community and its crisis of identity and morality. The cast of Virsa is Sardar Joginder Singh Grewal, Ranvir Singh Grewal, Harjinder Kaur ,Yuvraj Singh Grewal, Meet, Gulshan Grover, Kanwaljeet Singh, Ruby, Aarya Babbar, Aparna Sharma, Nawaz Ali, Naumaan Ijaz, Shazia Ali, Aaman Ali Shazia, Aman Dhaliwal, Mahi Sandhu and Mehreen Raheal.
