Mardan traders to observe hunger strike against DC

Mardan - Markaz-e-Tanzeem-e-Tajiran on Wednesday announced to stage a hunger strike camp in front of the district courts in Mardan and Takhtbhai on March 29 and 30 and to observe a shutter down strike on March 31 against the rude attitude of the Deputy Commissioner.

The traders in a meeting also demanded immediate removal of the Deputy Commissioner and decided to file writ petition against him in the Peshawar High Court.  President Traders’ Union Takhtbhai Haji Maazullah Khan, Sher Qayum, Aurangzeb Kashmiri, Ghulam Hussain, Rizwanullah, Malak Najeeb, Hafiz Zia-ur-Rehman and a large number of traders’ representatives participated in the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, speakers said that the DC allegedly used harsh words with the trader elders and jirga members at his office.

They alleged that the DC was spreading unrest in Mardan and his attitude towards the people and the business community was inappropriate. They accused the Deputy Commissioner of creating factions in traders’ organisation and trying to pit the two groups against each other.

The speakers asked the KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Chief Secretary to immediately replace DC Mardan to avoid any bloodshed or any major untoward incident.
