Okara police seize 36-kg narcotics, two dealers arrested

OKARA - The district police seized 36-kg hashish and arrested two drug dealers during an operation on Wednesday. A police spokesman told reporters here that a special team headed by SHO Sadar police station Inspector Aziz Ahmad Cheema conducted a successful raid and arrested two drug peddlers. The suspects were trying to supply narcotics in a car when the police intercepted them. During search, the police recovered 36-kg Charas from the vehicle and arrested both the drug pushers. The suspects were identified by police as Muhammad Idrees and Kaleem Ullah.

Wheat procurement arrangements reviewed

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Saba Asghar Ali on Wednesday directed the departments concerned to take appropriate steps for achieving hundred percent wheat procurement target in Okara district. She directed this while reviewing the arrangements regarding wheat procurement here on Wednesday. According to District Food Controller Muhammad Faisal Sharif, at least 1.8 million wheat bags would be procured and for this purpose, 15 wheat procurements centres were set up in Okara district. He said that 12 procurement centres had been set up in tehsil Depalpur and 3 in Renala Khurd tehsil while PASSCO would purchase wheat in tehsil Okara.
