Govt used previous census to show high per capita income, claims Bilawal

PPP chief says PM Imran unable to fulfil any of promises made to people during election campaign

ISLAMANAD - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari yesterday said that the federal government had used previous census data to show higher per capital income.

Bilawal said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government had used old census data to hide its failures. “Imran Khan is trying to cover up the economic catastrophe with constant lies and misrepresentations,” he said, commenting on the government’s claims of increase in per capita income.

Bilawal mocked the prime minister, saying that the marketing of chickens, eggs, buffaloes and calves could not improve the country’s economy. “Imran Khan had promised to fix the national economy in 90 days. Today is the 1011th day. When will the national economy recover?” he questioned.

The PPP chief said that Imran Khan had not been able to fulfil any of the promises and claims made to the people during the election campaign till date. He said that an increase of 53 per cent in the food import bill of an agricultural country was a slap on the economic performance of the government. “A false impression of Imran Khan’s honesty was created. The fact is that the PTI’s elite are looting the country with both hands,” he alleged.

Bilawal said: “As long as Imran Khan-like people are experimented in Pakistan, the country cannot progress.” “Imran Khan should apologise for making false claims and surrendering before the victims of inflation tsunami,” he demanded.
