Shahbaz forms body to review SRO 608 issue

Taking notice of the joint complaint moved by Rawalpidi and other chambers of commerce against the SRO 608, issued by the FBR, CM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a high-level committee headed by MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif for formulating recommendations to addressing their reservations.
The said SRO pertains to amendment in the Sale Tax Special Procedure Rule 2007 inter alia to collect the tax on monthly basis as well as on the basis of the consumption of utility services. Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, Members Parliament Pervaiz Malik, Mian Abdul Manan, Rana Sanaullah and other senior members will act as member of the committee.
The committee will formulate recommendation in consultation with chambers of commerce & industry and traders’ organisations for redressal of complaints about SRO 608. First meeting of the committee will be held in Lahore on November 26. CM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the problems of business and trading community will be resolved on priority basis. He said that chamber of commerce & industry and traders’ organisations are the backbone of national development.
The Chief Minister said that on the return of Finance Minister from abroad, complaints of traders’ community will be removed in the light of recommendations of special committee and all possible steps will be taken for removing their reservations.
