LAHORE - Pakistan junior hockey team couldn’t start their Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2021 campaign with a winning note as they were thumped by Germany 2-5 in the inaugural match played at Bhubaneswar, India on Wednesday.
According to information made available here, the match between Pakistan and Germany was very interesting as both the team played attacking hockey. The German team started strong, as in the opening minute of the game, their player Michel Struthoff struck a goal against Pakistan to give his side 1-0 lead. Robert Duckscheer scored the second goal in the 14th minute to enhance Germany’s lead to 2-0.
Pakistani players scored opening for their side in the 18th minute through Abdul Hanan Shahid which helped in reducing the margin to 2-1. The very next minute, Germany’s Maximilian Sieburg converted a classic goal that helped his team further stretch their lead to 3-1. Benedikt Schwarzhaupt then made it 4-1 by successfully converting a penalty corner in the 22nd minute of the match.
Pakistani forward Hammad Anjum then got a chance to score a goal in the 49th minute of the match and he remained succeeded in converting the goal and made it 4-2. However, German players continued their efforts to score more and finally managed to add one more goal in their tally, making it 5-2. This time the goal scorer from the German team was Robert Duckscheer who slammed in the goal in the 54th minute of the game. Pakistan will now face Egypt in the second pool match on Nov 27 at 9pm PST.
