Fire breaks out in oil van

Rawalpindi-A huge fire broke out in an engine oil supplying van here on Tufail Road yesterday.

The incident took place at 3:10pm within the limits of Police Station Civil Line. The fire also engulfed the outer wall of a house with charring the electricity wires and meters, forcing the WAPDA to suspend supply of electricity to the locality. The reason of inferno is told to be short circuit in the engine of the van.

Rescue 1122 fire brigade rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire. The driver and the conductor were saved.

According to details, a man namely Muhammad Asif along with his conductor was going to Lalkurti after supplying engine mobile oil in different parts of city when all of a sudden a huge fire caught the van (RIM-3386) outside RPO Office on Tufail Road.

The driver and his conductor immediately jumped out of the vehicle and started off loading the gallons and small packs of engine oil to avoid loss.

However, the fire erupted with small explosions. The clouds of thick black smoke started emitting from the blazing van that could be seen even from miles away.

A large number of citizens gathered at the place and personnel of law-enforcement agencies and sensitive departments also rushed to the scene and started inquiring the incident.

DSP Civil Line Circle Farhan Aslam also reached the spot along with a police team and conducted investigation.

Later, city traffic police blocked Tufail Road while the civic bodies cleaned up the oil and other ashes from the road. The police mentioned the incident in daily crime register.
