LAHORE - Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has ordered immediate repair of the elevators in the Services Hospital.
During a hearing at Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry Saturday, Services Hospital’s Dr Mehmood Ayaz told the chief justice that elevators of the hospital were out of order, adding to patients’ woes.
To this, Justice Nisar asked where the chief executive officer of the private company was, which is responsible for maintenance of the elevators. Lawyer representing the company told CJP that the CEO was on leave for Haj and would return on August 27.
However, he said, work on all the elevators was completed on their part. But the chief justice ordered the CEO to appear in the court along with a report on the matter on August 29.
On July 14, the top judge visited the hospital and expressed annoyance over complaints of patients about.
Punjab secretary health Saqib Zafar, Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Principal Prof Dr Mahmood Ayaz and Medical Superintendent of Services Hospital Dr Muhammad Ameer were already present in the court.
Young Doctors Association’s representative Dr Salman Kazmi pointed out that the same company installed elevators at Mayo Hospital and they too were not in working condition.
Expressing serious concern, the chief justice suggested referring the matter to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a thorough probe.
