DC Islamabad bans entry of unauthorised heavy transport

ISLAMABAD - The district administration has banned entry of unauthorised heavy transport in the city without prior permission of Islamabad Transport Authority, informed a spokesman on Wednesday. 
He said the purpose of ban was aimed at regulating the entry of heavy transport through different points in the territorial jurisdiction of ICT without prior permission of Islamabad Transport Authority. 
Sharing further details, the spokesman said all the heavy transport including trucks, dumpers, tankers, pickups will enter the ICT after due permission and endorsement from 11pm to 7am only. Traffic police will ensure strict compliance by verifying documents. 
He said the above-mentioned vehicles will not use Srinagar Highway and they will use only IJP Road, Murree Road and Expressway.
“Oil tankers shall use IJP Road via Faizabad and thereafter they shall proceed to their respective points via 9th Avenue, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road,” he said. 
He said all the vehicles carrying construction material shall enter Islamabad Chowk via IJP Road and thereafter they will proceed to their respective points via 9th Avenue, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road. 
It must be ensured that vehicles carrying construction material should be allowed after scrutiny and record shall be maintained i.e. name of driver, CNIC number, vehicle registration number, details of goods and start and destination point, he said adding that heavy transport loaded with construction material for sectoral/residential areas of the city shall use IJP Road, Expressway, 9th Avenue, Margalla Road and then can proceed towards the respective sectors. 
He said vehicles moving from and to Murree and Kashmir will also use Murree Road via Islamabad Club and then Expressway towards Rawat T Chowk and for approaching motorway they will use IJP Road from Faizabad. 
All the commercial/carriage vehicles including trucks, dumpers, oil tankers, pickups, mini-trucks etc. should use IJP Road and Expressway as transit route. Police will check the movement of vehicles, the spokesman said. 
He was of view that foolproof security arrangements and effective monitoring mechanism must be ensured for screening of the vehicles proceeding towards Red Zone and vicinity. Vehicles carrying construction material and heavy transport shall use Faizabad to Dhokri via Club Road for entrance in Red Zone. 
“Permit carrying vehicles shall also display sticker depicting destination points and rote provided by the Secretary ITA that shall be pasted at wind screen for easy identification. 
These permits shall be renewed every month,” he said. 
All corporations/institutions, whether government, semi-government, or private organisations must obtain their permission from Secretary ITA which shall be endorsed by SSP Operations Islamabad or SSP Security Office (in case of Red Zone) and SSP Traffic Islamabad, he mentioned. 
Meanwhile, Additional District Magistrate ICT Islamabad Rana Muhammad Waqas Anwar has imposed Section 144 for two months over sale/purchase, illegal construction and encroachment in areas of Zone-3, Shah Allah Ditta, Talhar, Daman-e-Koh, Pir Sohawa, Gokina, Noorpur Shahan, Quaid-i-Azam University, Bari Imam, Shahdara, Malpur, Kot Hathyal, Saidpur, Chauntra, Mera Beri, Islamabad without any legal documents and authority, according to a spokesman.
