Pir Chanbal incident suspects’ remand extended

RAWALPINDI - Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge, Rana Masood Akhter, on Saturday extended the physical remand of the two suspects of Pir Chanbal incident for two days.
Police brought the two suspects namely Waheed Ahmed and Muhammad Ijaz before the ATC No 2 amid tight security. Police filed an application with the court and demanded remand of five days of the both suspects.
But the court rejected police plea and awarded only two-day physical remand of the suspects to police.  The court ordered police to produce the suspects on February 27 before the court for further proceeding. It is pertinent to mention here that the law enforcers rounded up Waheed Ahmed and Muhammad Ijaz on February 22, 2012 during an action for their alleged involvement in Pir Chanbal incident in which four security officials and a civilian were killed in November last. Meanwhile, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi Number 1 on Saturday adjourned the hearing of Mumbai attack case till March 3, 2012. The case was taken up by ATC No 1 Judge Shahid Raffique at Adyala Jail during which Khawaja Haris advocate appeared before the court on behalf of the seven accused arrested in Pakistan in connection with Mumbai attack. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar was representing the state in the case.
