ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar Thursday banned at least 24 mineral water-selling companies.
Hearing a case against mineral water selling companies, the CJP remarked such companies’ lawyers receive huge fees, but this does not give them the right to take relief. He said they would not be allowed to sell filthy water. “The companies are big, but their water is not clean. They will not be allowed to sell water until the satisfaction of the court,” the CJP held.
The lawyer of a mineral water company prayed to the court to examine the report of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) in this regard, to which the CJP responded, “We will send for the report by ourselves. The companies should not remain in the illusion that they will get relief by hiring a prominent lawyer.” The court adjourned the hearing of the case for an indefinite period.
