Missing people case: notices served on ISI, MI DGs

ISLAMABAD The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the DGs ISI and MI and the Islamabad Superintended Police (SP) in a missing person case and sought reply on July 29. A single member bench comprising Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman resumed hearing of a petition filed by Professor Mohamamd Hanif for release of his son. The court directed Deputy Attorney General Tariq Mehmood Jahangri to contact the authorities concerned and ensure the reply on next hearing. The counsel of the petitioner Umer Hayyat Sindhu informed the court that secret agencies kidnapped the son of his client on July 21 from outside his house. The counsel submitted that Usama Hanif, son of his client, had never been involved in any illegal and immoral activity. His client had contacted the police but he could not find any information about his son. The counsel requested the court to pass an order declaring the act of agencies illegal. He also requested the court to pass an order to the authorities concerned to produce Usama in the court of law. The court after hearing arguments of the counsel issued the said order. Meanwhile, the court consolidated the missing persons case of Imran Yousaf Zai and Dawar Khan and fixed next hearing of all the cases on July 29.
