Three family members stabbed to death

LAHORE - A mother along with her son and a niece were found strangulated from a rented house in Hanjarwal police limits early on Thursday. The victims identified as Kaneez Bibi, 40, her minor son Zahid, 13, and a 10-year-old girl, Maryam alias Billo, were found dead with multiple wounds on different parts of their bodies showing that criminals had subjected them to severe torture before killing them. It has been reliably learnt that the killers also took away, 2-year-old Zain, son of the victim woman, besides cash and valuables from the house. The womans two other daughters Malka, 5, and Arzu, 4, were found alive from a room of the house situated in Sershar Town where the killers locked them up before escape. Witnesses said that according to circumstantial evidences, the deceased woman Kaneez Bibi and the minors offered strong resistance as several blood stained footprints of the minors followed by the woman were found at different parts of the house - courtyard and a room - showing that the merciless killers had been playing a cat and mouse game while running after their injured 'preys. While revealing the horrible tale of the victims struggle for lives, the witnesses said, apparently it seems that the killers first injured the women and the children with repeated strikes of stabs. Later they ran after the woman and the minors when they rushed to save their lives. Neighbours of the victim family told police that Kaneezs husband, Anwar Jutt, had left for Sheikhupura two days back to look after his agricultural land situated at Deena Nath. The only eyewitnesses of the horrible triple murder incident were the two daughters of the deceased woman who told police in broken words about a suspect later identified as Muhammad Shakeel - former neighbour of the said family. The girls told the police about the surprise visit of Shakil who locked them up in a room and later played the 'horrible game. Anwar Jutt who reached his house after being informed about the assassination of his family, also expressed his doubt over the involvement of his former neighbour Muhammad Shakeel claiming that he (Shakeel) was issueless and had expressed his desire to adopt his (Anwar Jutt) minor son but he had flatly refused. He further told the police that Shakeel and his wife used to take his son to their rented house situated in the same street. The issueless couple had expressed their keen desire to the locals several times to adopt a child. According to the police, it was third marriage of Anwar Jutt with Kaneez Bibi who had married him second time. The minor, Zahid, killed in the incident was her son from her first husband while the two daughters survived were fathered by Anwar Jutt. SHO Hanjarwal Mian Younis ruled out any possibility of robbery-cum-murder incident saying that a team had been dispatched for arrest of the accused nominated by the complainant in an FIR. He said the bodies of all three victims had been shifted to the City morgue for autopsy while a case had been registered on the complaint of Dilawar Hussain, father of the victim girl, Maryam.
