Election Tribunal on Tuesday rejected an appeal against the candidature of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz's (PML-N) Khawaja Muhammad Asif from NA-73 Sialkot-II.
The petitioner had said that the PML-N's leader had not fully showed his assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The Appellate Tribunal termed the petition as non-maintainable and dismissed it. The Tribunal allowed Asif to contest the General Election 2018.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Firdous Ashiq Awan was also given the permission to contest election from NA-72 Sialkot-I.
A petitioner, Zaid Lateef, had alleged that Firdous Ashiq Awan had not filled the column to disclose details of her marriage and offspring.
Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi rejected the petition, stating that the returning officer had accepted Awan's nomination papers as per the law.
