Rouhani denies discussing 'RAW agent' with Gen Raheel

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has denied having discussed arrest of an Indian spy by Pakistan security agencies with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif during a meeting on Saturday.

Shortly after General Sharif's meeting with the visiting Iranian leader, local media claimed that arrest of RAW agent was discussed besides other issues pertaining to regional security.

"There was no discussion about Indian spy during my meeting with General Raheel," Rouhani told a news conference. He said Tehran enjoys brotherly relations with both Pakistan and India.

Hassan Rouhani said his meetings with Pakistani leaders were fruitful and positive. "Rumors start swirling whenever we come closer to Pakistan," he said.

He said work on Pak-Iran gas pipeline was continuing with a rapid pace, and both the countries need to enhance cooperation in the fields of health, education and technology.

Expressing Iran's desire to get connected with Pakistan through railway and road networks, the Iranian leader said, linking Gwadar port with China through railway network would benefit the entire region.
