New Army Chief not to be appointed before Nov, clarifies PM

ISLAMABAD   -   Prime Minister Imran Khan for the first time spoke about the appointment of a new Pakistan army chief and termed as speculations the reports that a new army chief will be appointed in April.

“The appointment of new army chief will take place in November 2022”, Prime MInister Imran Khan said this while talking to a group of selected journalists at the PM Office on Friday.

When asked about his working relations with the army chief, the PM said he has good relations with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

When asked who could be behind the present political crisis, he said that the prevailing political instability in the country is under a well-conceived conspiracy. The prime minister said the no-confidence motion is a legal and political issue. However, the loyalties of MPs shall not be sold and is, by no means, acceptable to him. Imran Khan went on to say that no one knows about the fate of the no-confidence motion and it would only be open at the time of the voting.

“The number of the people who come to attend the session will only be identified on that day,” he said.

Mr. Khan said his government is in contact with the coalition parties and all the cards will come under light on that day.

He said that the number game will continue till the ‘last over of the match’.

“We are fully prepared for the counting on the no-confidence, whether it take place earlier or gets delayed. We are prepared for the results of the no-confidence motion,” he maintained.
