Zohaib, Abubakar win consecutive U-12 doubles title in Aitchison Jr Tennis

LAHORE - Zohaib Afzal Malik (SA Group) and Abubakar Talha (Wapda) continued their good show as doubles partner as they maintained their title winning streak and clinched the second consecutive U-12 doubles title in the Aitchison College Junior National Tennis Championship 2021 that recently concluded here at the college’s tennis courts. 

Both the young, talented and emerging tennis players – Zohaib Afzal Malik and Abubakar Talha were up against the spirited pair of Amir Mazari (Aitchison) and Omer Jawad and outclassed them with a score of 4-0, 4-1. The duo didn’t allow their opponents to earn a single point in the first set, taking it 4-0. In the second set, Amir and Omer made their presence felt by scoring just one point, but this was all they could earn from the final match as Zohaib and Abubakar once again stamped their authority and won the set 4-1 quite comfortably thus added another feather in their already decorated caps. 

Talking to The Nation after winning his second consecutive title with Abubakar Talha, Zohaib, who is a brilliant student of LGS Phase V, said: “Our chemistry has matched well and helping us win titles one after another. We are working hard and passionate and dedicated to continue to dominate the national circuit in our respective category and win more laurels. I am also thankful to my coach Muhammad Khalid, who is training and grooming me well and it is his sincere efforts, guidance and coaching, which has now started bearing fruit.

 I am thankful to my Taya Sohail Afzal Malik for his all-out support, which is helping me in gradually making my dreams come true that is winning national and international laurels and representing Pakistan in ATF, ITF and grand slams event.” 

Abubakar Talha, while sharing his views with The Nation, said that he is gradually moving towards the set goals by winning titles at national level. “First of all, I am grateful to my father, Talha Waheed, and then my department, Wapda, for their all-out support in pursuing my career and becoming an international player. I am working very hard and my goal is winning global glories for my country.”
