Miftah Ismail to tender resignation to PM

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail will tender his resignation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon whose advice it will be accepted by the President of Pakistan, it was learnt on Monday

After the approval of the president, the Cabinet Division will issue a notification in this regard.

On the other hand, senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ishaq Dar will first take the oath as a senator after reaching Pakistan.

Later, he will have to take the oath as federal minister from the president after which the prime minister will hand over the portfolio of finance minister to him.

Thenceforth, the Cabinet Division will issue a notification for the handing over of the portfolio of finance minister to Ishaq Dar.

It is to be noted here that a notification regarding the appointment of Miftah Ismail as federal minister had been issued on April 19, 2022.

An unelected person can stay on the post of federal minister for maximum six months. Miftah Ismail’s six-month term as federal minister is to be completed on October 18, 2022.

According to the court decision, the advisers and assistants cannot be the chairmen and members of the cabinet committees.

Miftah Ismail had been made minister in compliance with the decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
