Public to be informed about ‘extra outages due to sudden technical faults’

ISLAMABAD
The 1050MW reduction in power generation that occurred due to technical fault is expected to be reinstated partially soon that will decrease the loadshedding hours in the country.
A spokesperson of the Ministry of Water and Power has claimed that a major part of 1050MMW will be restored Friday.
He further said that with the restoration of decreased power generation power cuts will be normalized though they cannot be ended altogether.
As per details, the power generation system on March 23rd faced forced outages due to stoppage of 1050MW generation due to technical faults, resulting in revised load management schedule for the consumers.
The power generation units those experienced technical faults include two units of HUBCO generating a total of 600MW, AES ALPIR that was generating 350MW  and KAPCO with a capacity of 100 MW that totals 1050 MW. Spokesman stated that the generation system when faces technical faults like the instant one needs a particular time to restore depending on the nature of fault.
However, the Ministry of Water and Power has put in place a system to immediately undertake the repairs.
He further stated that Ministry of Water and Power has also decided that the public shall be informed about such faults on regular and immediate basis through the media so that they are aware about the situation and can adjust their routine.
The same will also be helpful in attracting the electricity conservation among the consumers to reduce the demand and supply gap, leading towards minimum extra loadshedding.
The Ministry of Water and Power has also appealed to the consumers to adopt energy conservation measures and help in reducing wastage of electricity.
