Arif Saeed re-elected president of PRU

LAHORE- Arif Saeed was re-elected as president of Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) while Fawzi Khawaja as chairman for the next four-year term during the PRU general council meeting held virtually on March 24. 
The general council meeting was attended by the representative of all the affiliated units while POA Deputy Secretary Muhammad Jahangir performed the duty as observer and observed the entire election process, terming it fair and transparent. Besides Arif and Fawzi, Salman Muzaffar Shaikh was elected as Secretary General. 
The other elected PRU office-bearers are Rizwan Ur Rab Malik, Yahya Bhatti, Shahzad Sultan AIG (vice presidents), Haroon Naseem (treasurer) and Ms Shireen Hina (women representative). The executive committee members are Ms Rahila (lady member), Khurram Khawaja, Tariq Parvaiz, Noor Aslam, Salman Munir, Muhammad Muzammil Wazeeri and Nusrat Ullah Khan. 
Addressing the participants, PRU President Arif Saeed said: “Pakistan Rugby Union has been fully focusing at the grassroots level for the last few years, which has started yielding fruitful results as it helped us in increasing the number of players and coaches throughout the country. The work being done by the PRU has also earned due recognition from the world rugby governing bodies including World Rugby and Asia Rugby. 
“This year, we have started rugby program in Gilgit-Baltistan, which produced excellent results and attracted a lot of youth towards this beautiful game. But now due to Covid-19 pandemic, the activities have been stopped and we are looking forward to double our efforts after the sports activities are resumed in the country. We have also planned to host international rugby events, which will help in further promoting this game in Pakistan,” he added.
