Teacher, nephew shot dead on way to school

QUETTA - Unidentified gunmen killed a teacher and his nephew and wounded another four, including two daughters, in Kharan, some 40km south of Quetta, on Saturday morning.
Police said private school principal Muzafar Jamali along with his three children and two nephews was on way to the school when armed men fired shots at his vehicle, killing his 11-year-old nephew Obaidullah on the spot and injuring other commuters critically.
Police reached the scene and shifted the wounded to hospital. However Jamali succumbed to wounds. The injured, named as Hamiza, Arifa, Saifullah and Abdullah, were referred to Quetta Combined Military Hospital later.
“The assassins were riding a motorbike and, according to initial probe, Jamali was the main target in the shootout,” a police official said, dubbing the shooting as target killing.
The wounded are stated to be critical. Sources in family said the deceased had made a request to the government for security as he had been receiving threats by unidentified people. However, no group has claimed responsibility so far.
